What should I be asking myself every week

The questions nobody asks a senior leader, in a block you protect on the calendar like any other meeting.

The higher you go, the fewer people ask you hard questions. Robert Kaplan built What to Ask the Person in the Mirror around exactly that gap, and the practical form of the answer is a structured hour you protect every week.

Set aside a real block to think, process, and prioritize, and treat it as work rather than as time stolen from work. Most managers never book it. The ones who do tend to describe it as the highest-leverage time in their week.

The most useful question in the set is the one about where your calendar contradicts what you say matters. It is uncomfortable and it is answerable in about ninety seconds.

What you get

  • Twelve questions across four areas: time, priorities, purpose, and people
  • Writing space under each, because thinking about these and answering them on paper are different activities
  • A one-change commitment, deliberately singular
  • Three notes on actually keeping the hour once you book it

Where should we send it?

One email with the worksheet. You can unsubscribe from anything else in one click.
